  1. Wonderful reminder! At the end of the day, Jesus’ message is still the same. “Love God with all our hearts and our neighbor as ourself.”

    1. Amen!

  2. Great post! You are so right. It is so easy to want recognition for our sacrifice but that is not part of the sacrificial life Jesus called us to. So hard to remember sometimes.

  3. I like to ask, “what is my motivation?” When we are honest the Holy Spirit helps us with our perspective.

    1. Yes! being in-tuned to the Spirit’s leading is key.

  4. Wonderful article. I love how we can turn our service over to Jesus and have everything we need. If I don’t intentionally do this I do find myself wanting something in return.

  5. Years ago I would have expected a “return” and I’m ever so thankful Jesus has taught me to serve without expectations. Serving has been a far better joy than ever receiving a return.

    1. 100% When I start feeling resentful in my service, it’s clear that I’ve take the focus off Jesus and onto myself.

  6. This is SO beautiful! Our motives really do determine how we feel about the outcome of our serving, whether for self or for our beautiful Lord. When we make it all about Him, He makes it all about us by empowering, encouraging and lifting us up in His strength.

    1. Yes! Amen 🙂

  7. Love this perspective, Nichole, and the idea of being emptied. Fill us up, Holy Spirit.
    Thanks for linking up!

    1. thanks for reading, and thank you for the opportunity!

  8. When we serve without a need for recognition or recompense, it leaves us with a sweet feeling. Thank you for this encouragement to mind our attitudes as we serve.

    1. thank you for reading!

  9. Serving takes its toll. That is a fact. As we fill up others, our reserves can be drained. So important for our “me time” needs to be more “God time”. I love that thought. Thanks for sharing.

Christ emptied himself for us, and it’s a joy to do the same for him. But praise God that he fills us back up every single time! Thank you for sharing your insightful thoughts!:)
