What is a single verse, that when you read it, makes your heavy heart lift with hope?
Despite this being the merriest time of year, it can also feel very heavy. When we start to feel like the dark is pressing down our shoulders and pushing down our gaze, we need to intentionally remind ourselves of the truth.
This verse does it for me every time. The dark can feel overpowering and sometimes it sure feels like it’s winning the battle.
But the Light. It always shines. It’s never extinguished. The dark has not, will not, cannot overcome it. It was true when John wrote it 2000+ years ago and it’s still true today.
If you need a little bit of hope to grasp onto today, cling to this. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.
